Jeera is ancient herb used in cooking since ages, Cumin not only balances metabolic rate but also nourishes hair, skin and body in various ways :
• Cumin when consumed as whole without any grinding or heating when is chewed properly can subside nausea and vomiting.
• 1 tsp Cumin along with ½ tsp jaggery powder reduces acidity, reduces period cramps, balances the gut, also very helpful initiating healthy digestion, helps to relieve constipation and also useful in haemorrhoids, it is also useful in malarial fever.

• Ayurvedic cumin rich herbal tea: ½ tsp Cumin + 2 pinches turmeric +4 to 5 grounded basil (tulsi) + 1 tsp ajwain + 4 to 5 grounded mint leaves or mint powder (pudina) + ½ tsp souf, this drink helps in maintaining the balance of the body, it acts as detox drink and flushes the toxins out of the body, this drink when consumed regularly helps to reduce acidic pH of the GI track, enhances hair and skin quality, helps skin pores to breathe properly.
• 250 ml water along with 1 tsp of jeera boiled and reduced to half the quantity of water, add the jaggery powder when the water is strained and lukewarm: this drink should be consumed bedtime, also helps to instantly cures acidity.
• Ghee + 1 tsp of coriander powder + 1 tsp of cumin helps to relieves gastritis and enhances taste of mouth, people in ancient time used this after getting relieved from fever.
• Black cumin, Authentic Kapoor (camphor) when burnt and is inhaled has amazing ability to subside Rhinitis.
• In France, Cumin as an ingredient is used in preparation of breads.
• Cumin as an ingredient is used in Asian countries, in order to make food lighter and works as digestive catalyst.
• Cumin as a spice is also used to make Mexican chilli powder, it is also used in some preparations of cheese.
A study done on cumin as a staple in case of bad cholesterol, results has shown that 3g cumin when consumed regularly reduces bad cholesterol and helps in regaining lost good cholestrol. Many studies have shown that cumin can also be useful as immune booster and boosts immune response against fungal and bacterial infections. Some studies have also shown that cumin can also be used against fighting some cancers and type to diabetes. A small pilot study from 2013 looked on the effects of cumin essential oil drops on irritable bowel syndrome after consumption for about 4 weeks, participants noted reduction in stomach ache and bloating.
